About Me

I am Katherine Grace-Shamburek, an aspiring dancer from the United States. I have been dancing since the age of three, when my parents enrolled me in my first ballet class. Having found an excellent ballet teacher in my hometown, I was lucky enough that, for many years, I did not have to go far from home to pursue my love of dance. Eventually, my teacher suggested that I look into continuing my dance studies at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The Vaganova Academy, the school associated with the Mariinsky (Kirov) Ballet and formerly called the Imperial Ballet School, is the school at which my teacher had received her own dance training. After submitting a video audition for admission consideration, I received notification that I had been accepted into the Vaganova Ballet Academy.

I attended the Vaganova Ballet Academy for two years, from 2013 to 2015, completing the eighth class under the instruction of Liusmila Valentinova Kovaleva, and the ninth (graduate) class under Tatiana Alexandrovna Udalenkova. Having now completed my studies in Russia, I am in search of a position with a professional ballet company.

Poetry of the Foot was born from a desire to document and share my adventures, experiences, and insights while I living and studying in Russia. I invite you to take a look at my posts and the many pictures that accompany them!
