On Sunday, I went to the movie theater with one of the girls in my ballet class, Albina. She is very nice and suggested going to see a movie as a fun activity to help us enjoy our day off. She is not an international trainee, but is new to the school this year and is actually from Kyrgyzstan. (The reason that she is not an international trainee is that she attends the academic classes with the Russian students and international trainees attend only the dance classes).
It was a good day to spend inside a movie theater, seeing as the weather has settled into a comfortable daily pattern of Saint Petersburg rain. Here is the forecast for the next week...
We were initially going to go with a couple of other people, but they decided not to come for a variety of reasons, so it was just Albina and I who headed to the theater. We went to the Нева Кинотеатр, or the Neva Cinema.
The next stop was the Кинобар, the Movie Bar (snack bar), where we bought ourselves candy and popcorn to enjoy during the movie.
Next was the movie itself. We had initially intended to see Romeo and Juliet, but they had no tickets left, so we ended up seeing a humorous action movie instead. Because the movie was in Russian and had no subtitles, there were a lot of things that I didn't understand. I understood enough to get a general idea of the storyline and to find the movie very funny, though. We watched the movie then went to the nearby mall for dinner and some shopping, and it ended up being a really fun afternoon.
